Another simplistic edge finish is the flat edge. It’s a great choice because is never goes out of fashion making it perfect for modern and traditional style bathrooms and kitchens alike. It’s not trying to be something flashy that it’s not. It’s just simple, flat, and here to stay.
The eased edge, or “straight polish”, is the most straightforward edge treatment. It leaves your countertop edge almost perfectly square, polished just enough to remove the sharpness and make it safer.
The hall bullnose edge is a fairly traditional countertop edge, rounded on top and flat on the bottom. It’s safer for kids and matches the style of homes with lots of rounded edges. This finish helps give the edge a robust, thick appearance.
The ogee is a classic and elegant countertop edge. It’s basically a large concave groove on top curved into the bottom. “Oh gee, that’s one good looking countertop edge!” No really, that’s how it got its name.
This is when the top of the countertop edge is subtly cut off at a 45-degree angle. You can adjust the size of the bevel cut to your liking. At Explore Kitchens, we can also modify the angle of the cut, making it more obtuse or acute. (Because who wouldn’t like “acute” little angle!)
New kitchen countertops come in all kinds of stone material, available in a wide variety of colors, styles, shapes, and sizes. Whatever you have in mind for your stone kitchen or bathroom countertop, here the types of stone countertops we keep in supply.
A honed finish is when the surface is sanded down, leaving it flat, soft, and consistent. Think of it as the “matte” option. This finish prevents scratches from showing up as much and leaves it looking lighter than the polished finish.
The polished marble finish leaves your countertops highly reflective. This shiny exterior showcases the colors and character of your counters a bit better. Although it is stain resistant, you have to be careful about scratching it.
